I’m stoked that the Summer Games are about to kick-off, but I am a little disappointed in the way everything surrounding the event is shaking out.
With the political turmoil, the Zika scare, and the expectation that Brazil may lose $15BN from hosting the event, I can’t help but cringe. We all want to watch some of the best athletes in the world perform, but does it have to be under all of these extreme circumstances?
Cities around the world should want to host the Olympics. My fear is that the appeal and allure of doing so will be squashed after the numbers are released following the Rio Games.
What will be to come of the Olympics? Can the legacy event weather all of these storms?
