Google Introduces Rich Cards

Earlier this week, I showed examples of how Google’s new mobile keyboard displays search results differently. Yesterday, Google followed that by announcing “Rich Cards” – a new schema markup that makes a whole lot of sense right now.

For now, this new Schema only applies to Recipes and Movies. We should expect for this type of markup to rollout to more categories and industries soon, however.

Google has already updated Search Console to display Rich Cards in its own section of the dashboard.

The report detects the code and reports on the number of different types your site contains. The report itself looks a lot like the hreflang International targeting chart.

So for now, if you host recipes or movie information, you better be applying this markup already. The rest of us will have to wait.
