I’ve written about “Dying Empty” in the past. There’s a great book called Die Empty by Todd Henry that inspired the concept of getting all of your ideas out of your head during your lifetime.
I recently also heard a song lyric that shouted the theme of “Bury Me Honest.” I like this notion similarly. One should always tell the truth in life, but if we haven’t in the past, we can still reconcile our lies by proclaiming the truth before we pass.
So if there is some sort of laundry list to check off before it’s my time to leave this planet, it might look something like:
- Clear my mind of all great ideas
- Ensure the truth is always what is what’s known
- Emphasize the love for others that I’m leaving with
It’s ideas, integrity, and love. It resolves to the themes that I think are central to my every day life.
