It’s the largest shopping day of the year – in the world.
And it was yesterday.
Six years ago, Alibaba turned Nov. 11 into China’s equivalent of United States shopping event Cyber Monday. It has now become larger than both Cyber Monday and Black Friday combined, and a closely watched barometer of the company’s performance.
More than $9 billion dollars was spent this day last year and experts are forecasting a number well north of that this year.
This year, Alibaba is already claiming its Singles’ Day shopping festival generated 91.2 billion yuan ($14.32 billion).
For reference, I’ve screengrabbed some of the largest companies’ localized sites celebrating the holiday.
